CreateSpace, a combined arts project supporting adults to create space for the arts in their everyday lives.
Artists are working in seven community venues across the Black Country and Staffordshire, inspiring participants to take ideas from sessions and find time to expand and develop them. The hope is that the increased creative activity will help to maintain and improve their wellbeing.
The programme is funded by a partnership of Arts Council England with Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery; Wolverhampton Art Gallery; Staffordshire County Council and The New Art Gallery Walsall.
With the programme less than halfway through, more than 200 people have already taken part – and are wearing the CreateSpace badge to prove it!
“You know what, I’m going to wear this badge with pride. CreateSpace isn’t going to be just a project for me, it’s my new motto for life!” Walsall participant.
Artists working on the programme include Rita Patel, Sarah Taylor Silverwood, The Juneau Project, Anand Chhabra and Andrew Jackson, incorporating a variety of artforms from metal work to photography.
